Girls Golf sneaks by BerlinWednesday, May 10, 2017 BERLIN - Just a few shots can make all the difference and that turned out to be the case Tuesday afternoon. The Berlin girls golf team was good, but Newington was just a little better as the Indians won 206-210 at Timberlin Golf Course. Berlin’s Jackie Cooper was the medalist of the match after shooting a 41. Newington, however, would earn the next three lowest scores as Chloe Bilobeau shot a 47, Taylor Kelly a 48 and Jessica Pierzchalski a 49. Karley Welles and Leah Pofeldt rounded out the Indians top scores tied for 62. For the Redcoats, next closest scorer was 11 strokes back of Cooper with Bridget McQuillan shooting a 52. Alena Kittleman (54) and Sydney Duke 63 rounded out the scoring. “We have to get better two through four,” Berlin head coach Jim Barnes said. “Jackie Cooper is playing great golf. We just need the other girls to step up.” Newington moves to 7-3, while Berlin falls to 3-5.
